Persuasive writing - term 4 Week 5

WALT persuade other students to agree with our opinion.  This the purpose for my writing.

Success Criteria:

1. I plan for a writing task
2. I write a variety of sentence lengths with different sentence starters
3. Give reasons with detail - use specific words
4. I write most topic and high frequency words correctly.
5. I use capital letters, full stops, question marks and exclamation marks correctly.
6. Use persuasive language

CHILDREN SHOULD BE PAID FOR DOING JOBS

In my opinion children should be paid for doing jobs.

Children should be paid for the work they do. Children should also be paid because we do a good job.  If children get jobs done they can get $1 or $5 for doing their jobs like hanging up the washing.     

Children should learn to buy things.  We should learn how much things cost. Furthermore children should know how much change to get back from the shop keeper.  

Children should know how to buy important things.  We should know how to be responsible because we need to know how to use money.

I therefore believe that children should get paid for doing jobs.

Pets should not be allowed in school - Term 3 Week 4

PETS SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED IN SCHOOL

I believe that pets should not be allowed in school.

Pets will get lost in school, it might take people all day to find it and they will not get their learning done.  I would feel worried and disappointed because the pet might be dead.

The kids might be allergic and if the kids are allergic they won’t get their work done and they will all have to go to the sick bay and everyone will be sick.  When the people are allergic to pets they will start coughing and itching and also your eyes will water.

Pets will rip all the the furniture and they might claw the curtains.

Pets will go toilet in the classrooms.

I therefore believe that pets are not allowed in schools.

  

Skimming Reading Strategy - Term 3 Week 2

WALT Skim an unknown text so that we can QUICKLY get understanding of it.
* I can decide if a book has useful information I need, or whether I want to read it for pleasure.


These are the things I can do to skim read

1. look at the title.
2. look at the pictures.
3. look at the blurb.
4. look at the chapters  

Facts about Snails - Week 8

1. Snails feel slimy and gooey.
2. The best time to look for snails are when it has just been raining.
3. Snails shell colours are dark brown or light brown and sometimes black.
4. On a snail a Pneumostome is a little dot that opens and closes.
5. The foot on a snail is the thing at the bottom.
6. Did you know that snails have upper tentacles and lower tentacles.
7. On the end of the tentacles they have little eyes.

Area - Week 6

Area is when you measure inside the shape.  To find the area you need to know how to do maths and measure.  Area is when you times the rows by columns.  Rows = right across and columns = come on down.  I will give you a demonstration by showing a picture.  We need to use area in the real world because we need to build houses and we need to know how long and wide we need our rugs and pools.

               

Facts about Horses - Week 5

Horses are things that live in farms. When you stand behind a horse, the horse will kick you and you will be sore because it hurt.
Horses have manes and a horse has a tail.
  Horses have sharp teeth and they will bite your finger off.
A girl horse is called a female and a boy horse is called a male.
      

Facts about Summies - Week 4

A summary is when you retell someone else's story in your own words.  
I will give you a demonstration.  
You can use keywords and put them into a sentence.

Keywords: Today and tomorrow.  

Today it is my birthday and tomorrow it is my sister's birthday.
