Animal band reader's theater - term 3 Week 7

The assembly item

On Friday September the 4th our classroom did an assembly item. It was called The Animal Band. It was fun up on stage because I enjoyed performing to an audience. Everyone laughed at Kaedyn because he used lots of expression as a scary robber.  At the end 
Mr G thought we were fabulous. Kady and Mayia were narrators. Teague , Beau and Thomas were readers, and Ruby and Henrietta were the donkeys.  Kalae, Jaden, Declan and I were dogs and Sienna,  Ruby H,  Terenzo and Emma were the cats.  Nathan, Boston, Ella, Max, Jack, Liam, Lachlan,Tayla, Kaedyn were the first, second and third robbers.  Daniel, Bradley and Jerome were the roosters. 

      

Persuasive writing - term 4 Week 5

WALT persuade other students to agree with our opinion.  This the purpose for my writing.

Success Criteria:

1. I plan for a writing task
2. I write a variety of sentence lengths with different sentence starters
3. Give reasons with detail - use specific words
4. I write most topic and high frequency words correctly.
5. I use capital letters, full stops, question marks and exclamation marks correctly.
6. Use persuasive language

CHILDREN SHOULD BE PAID FOR DOING JOBS

In my opinion children should be paid for doing jobs.

Children should be paid for the work they do. Children should also be paid because we do a good job.  If children get jobs done they can get $1 or $5 for doing their jobs like hanging up the washing.     

Children should learn to buy things.  We should learn how much things cost. Furthermore children should know how much change to get back from the shop keeper.  

Children should know how to buy important things.  We should know how to be responsible because we need to know how to use money.

I therefore believe that children should get paid for doing jobs.

Pets should not be allowed in school - Term 3 Week 4

PETS SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED IN SCHOOL

I believe that pets should not be allowed in school.

Pets will get lost in school, it might take people all day to find it and they will not get their learning done.  I would feel worried and disappointed because the pet might be dead.

The kids might be allergic and if the kids are allergic they won’t get their work done and they will all have to go to the sick bay and everyone will be sick.  When the people are allergic to pets they will start coughing and itching and also your eyes will water.

Pets will rip all the the furniture and they might claw the curtains.

Pets will go toilet in the classrooms.

I therefore believe that pets are not allowed in schools.

  

Skimming Reading Strategy - Term 3 Week 2

WALT Skim an unknown text so that we can QUICKLY get understanding of it.
* I can decide if a book has useful information I need, or whether I want to read it for pleasure.


These are the things I can do to skim read

1. look at the title.
2. look at the pictures.
3. look at the blurb.
4. look at the chapters  

Facts about Snails - Week 8

1. Snails feel slimy and gooey.
2. The best time to look for snails are when it has just been raining.
3. Snails shell colours are dark brown or light brown and sometimes black.
4. On a snail a Pneumostome is a little dot that opens and closes.
5. The foot on a snail is the thing at the bottom.
6. Did you know that snails have upper tentacles and lower tentacles.
7. On the end of the tentacles they have little eyes.

Area - Week 6

Area is when you measure inside the shape.  To find the area you need to know how to do maths and measure.  Area is when you times the rows by columns.  Rows = right across and columns = come on down.  I will give you a demonstration by showing a picture.  We need to use area in the real world because we need to build houses and we need to know how long and wide we need our rugs and pools.

               

Facts about Horses - Week 5

Horses are things that live in farms. When you stand behind a horse, the horse will kick you and you will be sore because it hurt.
Horses have manes and a horse has a tail.
  Horses have sharp teeth and they will bite your finger off.
A girl horse is called a female and a boy horse is called a male.
      

Facts about Summies - Week 4

A summary is when you retell someone else's story in your own words.  
I will give you a demonstration.  
You can use keywords and put them into a sentence.

Keywords: Today and tomorrow.  

Today it is my birthday and tomorrow it is my sister's birthday. 

Facts about Maths - Week 3

Maths are things that have numbers and
+ and = and X and - and %.
I can give you a demonstration.  4+4=8, 8+8=16, 5+5=10 and  5+6=11.   

  

Polar Bear Facts - Week 2

Polar bear facts

Polar Bears are mammals.   They only eat meat and they are the largest meat eater on land.  Male polar bears weigh 
680kg and females weigh half of what the males weigh. Polar bears spend most of their time at sea.  Scientists think there are about 20,000 polar bears.  Polar bears have 42 teeth.  Polar bears have an amazing sense of smell.  They can smell a seal from nearly a mile away.

Facts about Foxes - Week 1

Foxes  are from Britain.  They are related to the dog family.  Foxes can live up to 14 years.  A male is called a dog and a female is called a vixen.  A baby fox is called a cub.  Foxes are awake mostly at night time to go hunting.  They eat anything like berries, worms, spiders and even jam sandwiches.  Foxes live in a den.

My Swimming Reflection

I learned how to…do sculls and freestyle.

Something I found challenging was…backstroke because I did not know how to float.

At the end of the year I would like to improve on…backstroke.

Mrs Miller, Mr Kenny or Mrs Lowe could help me by…teaching me how to float.

The best part about swimming was...it was fun.

Super Hero Day

My name is Super Girl and my hands can squirt ice out and I can roll. I can also make a snow man.  I can squirt ice out of hands to save the day and it freezes the fire.  I treat people nicely.  I am saving anybody who is in danger, especially people who are in a house that is filled with fire.  I know the house is on fire because I have a watch and it can make an alert so I know.

My buddy from Room 6&7

Today I went to Room 6 &7 and I read a book to my buddy, my buddy's name is Zaeanaliyah.

The story I read was the sausage spy.  Zaeanaliyah is 5 and her twin sister's name is Saphaia.

Zaeanaliyah likes playing on computers.

Spider Woman

My superhero lives in a spooky cave and her name is Spider Woman.  

She has big dark blue wings that help her fly fast.  She has zigzag earrings, she also has a big spider on her chest and that is why her name is spider woman.  She has light blue boots and light blue gloves. Also she has blue pants and she has some undies, she has brown hair and it is in a cool style, she also has a blue long sleeve shirt.  

Spider woman is nice.  She helps the world and she uses her powers to rescue people.  She has red evil eyes, also she has a secret  place to hide in when there is a problem.  The place has a pool, also she has a secret room that has all of her powers in the room.

      

My Shield

My sheld has four things that I like - J stands for Jasmine and the pool is because I like swimming and the tree is for Parkvale School and the last one is Nachos.
